"Dad, is it douche? Or douche BAG?"

I'm guessing you were around seven or eight days old when you thoughtfully (almost pensively) posed that question one Sunday on our ride home from church, Jackie Jones. It was around the time we lifted the swearing ban. It was paying off.

Backstory: I met Byron Neilson doing a theatre thing. He and his wife and daughter, Susan and Lily Whiteman, came to dinner. We were in Poestenkill. It was at this dinner that I first heard of eliminating the ban on kids cussing. Byron counseled that the kid shouldn't be inoculated from others' consequences - and you weren't, and I don't recall any problems.

What I remember is that you both had innate timing and a penchant for picking the right swear for the particular moment.
